A FUNDRAISING dinner featuring a talk by Hagley Hall's Lord Cobham has raised more than £3,200 for Mary Stevens Hospice.

An Evening with Lord Cobham, held at The Granary Hotel at Shenstone near Kidderminster, on October 12, saw Christopher Charles Lyttleton talking about the history of Hagley Hall and his plans for the future of the iconic property.

He also took part in a question and answer session, offering guests chance to gain an unrivalled insight into the life of a lord.

Tickets sold out in advance of the event which attracted guests from across the region.

Lord Cobham said of the evening: "It was great to see so many people supporting a local charity."

All the money raised on the night has been donated to Mary Stevens Hospice, which supports people battling life-limiting illnesses.

The event was organised by hospice supporter Sue Williams who has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the charity which is currently trying to raise £3million to completely revamp its day services unit.

Charlotte Schofield, head of fundraising and lottery at Mary Stevens Hospice, said: “Sue's done an absolutely fantastic job, and we're so grateful both to her and to Lord Cobham for their time and effort in bringing this event to life. It was a fascinating evening and the feedback we've had has been glowing."

Sue's next fundraiser will be a trip to Blenheim Palace on Thursday November 16, which is taking guests to visit the Christmas craft market which sets up each year in the grounds of the palace.
