FIRE crews were called out to Birmingham Street in Stourbridge early this morning (Tuesday) after tyres went up in flames at Fair Price Tyres.

Stourbridge and Brierley Hill firefighters were alerted just before 4.30am after West Midlands Fire Service received a number of 999 calls.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We sent two engines to the scene - ten firefighters in total and the incident involved ten to 15 tyres in the front yard."

Firefighters left the scene at 5.14am.

Owner Chaudhry Hussain said the blaze had only affected scrap tyres in the front yard and that swift intervention by the fire service had saved the business which has been running for about two-and-a-half years.
