TWO talented teens at a Dudley Sixth Form are getting set to jet off to the other side of the world, after being awarded a UK Prime Ministers Global Fellowship.

Bishop Milner Catholic School pupils Lara Langston and Naadia Saleem, both aged 18, have won two of just 100 prestigious Fellowships available for school leavers - giving them to the opportunity to engage with exciting international opportunities.

Lara will spend six weeks in China. Her first two weeks will be spent in Beijing taking part in a language and cultural immersion course, where she will be learning basic Mandarin.

She will then spend four weeks in Shanghai - two weeks as a guest of a multinational company and two weeks in a school working with Chinese students.

Naadia is getting set to fly to India, where her first two weeks will be spent in New Delhi learning basic Hindi. She will then spend two weeks in Mumbai in a school focusing on attitudes towards education by young people in India. Her final fortnight will be in Bangalore as the guest of a multinational business.

On their return from the trip, which are being fully paid for by the British Council, the girls will be asked to tell the story of their trip back at school.

They will also be invited to Downing Street to share what they have learnt with the Prime Minister.

Mrs Lloyd, Head of Sixth Form, said: “The competition for places was high and both these young women have done exceptionally well to secure these opportunities.”
