A DEDICATED children’s hair salon that caters totally for kids, from toddlers to early teens, has opened at intu Merry Hill – creating four new jobs.

ShortCuts – where youngsters can be themselves in an interactive space full of distractions while having their hair styled – opened on Wednesday October 11, within the shopping centre’s Mothercare store.

Youngsters aged up to five can sit in a novelty car chair while having their hair done at the salon – while older kids can play Playstation games or watch a DVD of their choice.

ShortCuts, which aims to change the hairdressing experience for young boys and girls, already has salons in Milton Keynes, Northampton, Romford, Bristol, Leeds and London but this is the first in the Midlands.

David O’Neal, aged 32, founder of the salon, said: “We offer something quite different, it is tailored to the children and they can be thoroughly themselves without their parents worrying that they are disturbing other customers. We move and work around the child, we take it from them.”

Appointments can be booked online at www.shortcutssalon.com.

Four new stylists have been recruited to work in the new salon and there are plans to take on a further two within the next two months.
