RESIDENTS are invited to a public meeting in Brierley Hill in August to discuss concerns following a series of illegal incursions from travellers.

Amblecote councillors Paul Bradley, Julie Baines and Simon Tyler will be hosting the event taking place at Brierley Hill Civic Hall on Wednesday August 16 at 7pm.

Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, Superintendent Phil Dolby from West Midlands Police and Dudley Council's strategic director of place Alan Lunt are also expected to be at the meeting which has been called after residents in Withymoor were plagued by three separate traveller camps in early July.

There will be presentations from the council and police plus a question and answer session at the event, which is expected to go on until 9pm, and people will be able to submit suggestions for preventing any further illegal encampments in the future.

Cllr Bradley, who will be chairing the meeting, said: "There's a lot of concern around the borough about this issue - so this is about educating the locals about what what we can do and what we can't do within the legal parameters."
