A PEDESTRIAN was taken to hospital after a vehicle crashed in to parked cars in Dudley yesterday afternoon (Thursday). 

Police were called to the scene of the crash in Buffery Road at 3.24pm where it was reported that the occupant of one vehicle was in possession of a machete.

A male pedestrian had to be taken to hospital with leg injuries after being hit by the car.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Firearms officers were deployed to the scene after it was reported that a man was seen armed with machetes.

"The incident is not being treated as a terror related and thought to be a dispute between two groups. Residents should be reassured that there is no threat to the wider public.

"Forensic examinations are taking place and officers are speaking to witnesses."

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, two senior officers, a paramedic officer and the West Midlands Care Team to the scene and a spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a man with serious leg injuries, who they were told had been involved in a collision with a car.

"Following emergency treatment at the scene, he was transported to hospital for further assessment.

“A second patient, a woman, was treated for the effects of shock and a minor hand injury, before being discharged at the scene.”

The road was closed for a number of hours following the incident before it reopened at about 11.30pm last night.
