THE Mayor of Dudley proved he's the man with the golden touch for fundraising when he coined in more than £4,000 for his chosen charities at the annual Mayor’s Ball and Civic Awards.

More than 300 people attended the James Bond themed event at Brierley Hill's Copthorne Hotel last week - which raised a total of £4,295.

The money will be split between the Mayor’s three charities – Dudley Mind, YMCA Black Country Group and Dudley Alzheimer’s Society.

Businesses, civic dignitaries and community group representatives from across the borough attended the event, which featured casino tables, a raffle, auction, games and entertainment.

A world-class snooker champion, a youth campaigner and a renowned charity were among the Civic Award winners who were presented with exclusive hand-crafted glassware.

Councillor Dave Tyler, the Mayor of Dudley, said: "I am overjoyed that the ball has raised so much money for my three chosen charities and I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to the businesses, sponsors and all who attended the night for making it possible.

“I would also like to thank all our award winners and nominees, they are all amazing people who help to make our borough a better place.”
