A GORNAL fraudster pocketing nearly £3,000 by advertising for sale on the internet tickets for top gigs which he did not have.

Matthew Thompson, aged 33, pleaded guilty to seven charges of fraud involving false representation when he appeared before Judge John Warner.

The charges all involve Thompson offering to sell for various amounts of money ranging from £200 to £900 tickets to concerts at the LG Arena in Birmingham and the O2 in London.

The stars appearing at the concerts were Beyonce, Take That and Rihanna with Thompson fraudulently obtaining a total of £2,985.

Gurdeep Garcha, for Thompson, told Wolverhampton Crown Court there were just the seven complaints as he stressed his client was a man of previous good character.

Thompson of Tudor Vale, Upper Gornal was remanded on unconditional bail until December 9 by the Judge for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

The judge told him, "The fact you are being allowed bail does not in any way tie the hands of the court that will deal with you."
