Golfers gathered for the 13th consecutive year in memory of keen golfer Roger Brookes at Little Lakes Golf Club to putt it out for the honour of winning the Roger Brookes Charity Golf Day.

This event started off in 2000 as the Kevin Brookes Charity Day.  The Brookes family initially decided to raise funds for charity back in 1981 when sadly, youngest brother Kevin passed away suddenly due to a tragic road accident, aged just 24.
In 2000 Roger, who was a very keen and experienced golfer, suggested that a Golf Day could be organised as an alternative, hence the golf day was born, initially named the Kevin Brookes Charity Golf Day. The inaugural day was in October, with 32 players taking part at Ombersley Golf Club with £400 being raised.
In 2001 the event was moved to Little Lakes Golf Club, Lye Head, Bewdley, which has hosted the day ever since. Participants and funds raised increased steadily, but sadly in December 2004 Roger passed away having battled bravely against cancer and spending his last four days at Mary Stevens Hospice. So it was agreed by Jane (wife) and David (brother) that from 2005 the event should be called The Roger Brookes Charity Golf Day and would be held on the first Sunday in June each year for Mary Stevens Hospice.
Vicki Rowles, Head of Fundraising at the Hospice said, “This event is a wonderful tribute to both Kevin and Roger. We at Mary Stevens Hospice would like to say a heartfelt thank you to John Morgan, the Brookes family and all those who have supported them making this Golf Day such a success. This year raising a magnificent £1155.00. “
