The Green Knight is finally arriving in the UK today after a long wait for anticipated viewers.

It was released on July 30 in the US and is coming to cinemas plus streaming from today in the UK.

Starring Dev Patel, the film is an adaptation of the 14th century poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight from Arthurian legend, which was adapted into modern English by J.R.R Tolkien in 1925.

The plot revolves around Gawain accepting a challenge from the mystical Green Knight to land a blow upon him, after which he has one year to deliver the same blow to Gawain.

From there Gawain goes on a journey to test his courage and face the titular character once more.

Director David Lowery brought the project to life, and it has been well-received by critics with audiences being a little more mixed.
