HUNDREDS of retirees are expected to descend on Bromsgrove's Parkside building this November for MP Sajid Javid's third annual Pensioners Fair.

Last year's event attracted more than 500 visitors and 50 exhibitors, and this year's fair on Friday, November 16 is set to be the liveliest yet, with planned first-aid demonstrations and a flash-mob of pensioners promoting the importance of staying fit in later life.

Confirmed stall holders include Bromsgrove District Council's Connecting Families initiative, which raises awareness of falls prevention, and the Alzheimer's Society, which has recently achieved Dementia Friendly Community Status in Bromsgrove.

First Group will be ensuring that retirees are as connected as possible, namely through its new Salt Road Service, which links Worcester, Droitwich, Bromsgrove and Birmingham.

Organiser Mr Javid said: "I’m delighted to be hosting my third annual Pensioners Fair later this year.

"It’s so important that we continue to back our local organisations by bringing together the very best of Bromsgrove.

"It’s events like this which keep our community spirit alive.

"I’d like to particularly thank the fair’s first two sponsors, First Group and Bromsgrove District Council, for their generous support.”

Bromsgrove Pensioners Fair is looking for more sponsors, with money going towards advertising, facilities on the day and event literature.

Interested sponsors or exhibitors should contact the MP's office at sajid.javid.mp@parliament.uk or on 0207 2190930.

The fair will take place from 10am to 12pm in Market Street.
