A WORKER was killed when he was trapped under a lorry in a horror incident at a Kidderminster haulage and transportation firm.

The victim died when the incident happened at Hickmans of Kidderminster, in Foley Business Park, Foley Drive.

Paramedics rushed to the site at 5.47pm on Wednesday, September 19 but he was confirmed dead at the scene.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are now carrying out investigations alongside West Mercia Police.

A spokesman for the police said the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

Lorraine Hickman, proprietor of the firm, said: “This is a tragedy and we have extended our deepest sympathy to the family.

“As there is an investigation underway, we cannot comment any further on the incident.”

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: “We received reports of a man in his 50s who was in cardiac arrest, having been trapped under a lorry at Foley Business Park, Kidderminster.

“Emergency services attended but sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin were informed. The Health and Safety Executive have been notified and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.

“At this moment in time the death is not being treated as suspicious.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “I can confirm that we were called to Hickmans of Kidderminster. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene.

“Sadly, it was immediately clear that nothing could be done to save a middle aged man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

A HSE spokesman added: “HSE is aware of the incident and supporting West Mercia Police with their enquiries.”
