A KIDDERMINSTER writer will be launching her new book during a children’s workshop in the town library this weekend.

Helen Wendy Cooper will be reading her new festive story The Kissing Tree to children at the event on Saturday, October 6 at 10.30am.

The Kissing Tree tells a rhyming story of Jack the Jackdaw, who is searching for love. He finds the perfect tree for Mistletoe to grow on but a Robin eats all his berries!

It then follows his quest for love and the perfect mistletoe tree to share a kiss under.

The former military musician, PCSO and nursery nurses said: “I absolutely love writing and illustrating for children.

“I started writing children’s books when I was 14 years old for my GCSEs and I hope all children enjoy reading my stories.”

It is Helen’s sixth published book and was written for a sponsored by Tenbury Mistletoe Association – based in the UK’s capital of mistletoe.

The book will feature as part of the celebrations for Tenbury Well’s Kissathon on October 27, which will be filmed by the BBC, as well as Tenbury’s Mistletoe Festival, on December 1, with a Christmas workshop from Helen.

The book will be available at the launch for £4.99 or from shops, internet retailers or directly from www.helenwendycooper.co.ukfor £5.99.
