THE hospital trust running Redditch's Alexandra Hospital will be holding an open day to find the next "leading lights" to join the team.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for qualified operating department practitioners or nurses, theatre support workers and "aspiring individuals" who are interested in a career in theatres.

A spokesman said: "At the trust’s dedicated theatre open day on Saturday, October 20, you will get a chance to meet and chat with our team, take a tour of our advanced facilities and find out about training and development that’s shaped around your ambitions.

"We are looking for the next leading lights to join our friendly, talented team. Join us and we will put you centre stage, with excellent opportunities to progress, improve, and consolidate your theatre skills - in scrub, recovery and anaesthetics."

Mathew Trotman, theatres matron at the trust, added: “Working in theatres you are an important part of the operating department team working with surgeons, anaesthetists, operating department practitioners and theatre nurses to help ensure every operative procedure is safe and effective for patients and staff. It’s an extremely rewarding career.”

“The great thing about working at the trust is that there are rotation opportunities across our sites meaning substantive team members and trainees get to experience both emergency and elective surgery, as well as specialist environments including major vascular, urology, maxillio facial, orthopaedics and obstetrics."

The open day is from 9.30am to 1.30pm at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

Free parking and refreshments will be available.
