YOUNG people from Redditch and Bromsgrove recently attended a poignant ceremony to remember a loved one.

A number of youngsters took part in an activity camp for bereaved children, supported by Primrose Hospice.

All the children are currently being supported by the Hospice following the death of a parent, sibling or close family member.

During the weekend, the children also took part in therapeutic activities and Families came together at the end for a moving ceremony where they placed a leaf dedicated to their loved one on a memory tree.

Lisa Rodenhurst, from the Primrose Hospice, said: “For me, camp is about giving a positive experience to our children and young people.

“I feel very privileged to be part of this experience and often leave feeling humbled by the children’s strength, courage and determination.”

The camp is organised jointly with Kemp Hospice in Kidderminster and is a chance to bring children together with other youngsters going through the same experience.

Camps are free for both parents and children from Primrose Hospice to atten

Sharon Workman, from Primrose Hospice, added: “Camp is both exhilarating and exhausting and for me it is a privilege to spend time in the company of such wonderful children and young people.

“They share stories about their experiences of bereavement remember their loved ones with sadness but also with hope and joy.
