THE memory of a teenager who died earlier this year will be kept alive with two benches at a Hereford park.

A two-seater bench and a three-seater bench have been placed at the College Estate park in memory of Stamford Griffin.

Stamford died, aged 17, on July 13 at Hereford County Hospital after he collapsed on the railway bridge on Old School Lane.

The family held a gathering at the park at the end of October to mark what would have been his 18th birthday on November 1.

Stamford's brother, Tyler, said the family wanted to thank the KTH Group for supplying the concrete for the benches, Balfour Beatty, Tesco Hereford who donated food for the memorial, the funeral directors Co-op Funeralcare, and the Wellington in Hereford who gifted a meal for two to Stamford's parents.

Most of all, he said, they wanted to thank all of Stamford's family and friends for the support they have given to the family during the last four months.

Plaques will be placed on the benches in due course.
