A MAN has been charged with driving while unfit through drink or drugs after a car crashed and caused a gas leak in Bewdley, forcing homes to be evacuated.
The crash happened in Kidderminster Road at around 1.15am on November 16, causing damage to railings, the front of a property, and a main gas pipe.
Firefighters from Bewdley and Kidderminster attended, alongside specialists from Cadent Gas Ltd and officers from West Mercia Police, and 30 residents, including two children, were evacuated from 14 nearby homes until the scene was made safe.
Police have since charged 24-year-old Luke Clee, of Marlpool Place in Kidderminster, with causing criminal damage to a vehicle, common assault, and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
He has been bailed to Kidderminster Magistrates' Court for December 4.
