THE owner of a new restaurant which has replaced a former buffet that mysteriously shut down claims it will be ‘ten-times better.’

Q Panda will be opening in Cathedral Square, in Worcester, taking over from the previous all-you-can-eat restaurant, Kung Fu Oriental.

The new owner, Leo Huang, said: “We have named the restaurant to symbolise China, as the Panda is the animal which represents the country.

"Also, the Q will symbolise quality as we hope to offer top value food and service to the community.”

Q Panda will host an array of events intended to provide a buzz to Cathedral Square and reach out to the community. Mr Huang, aged 40, is looking to hire Worcester street dancers to create a new element and bring something different to the square.

The opening of the new eatery will take place on December 21 at noon, where staff members will will take part in a lion dance and flaunt their moves to the city.

Mr Huang added: “It is Chinese tradition to have a lion dance on the day of a new business opening up. It is a wonderful piece of art. We hope everyone will enjoy it.

“We will be 10 times better than Kung Fu as we believe we will bring passion to a whole new level. We want the visitor’s experience to be memorable and for our guests to try our oriental food.”

The restaurant has kept its buffet format and will provide traditional Chinese and Indian dishes. Q Panda are hiring and looking for 10 more members to join them. They have currently taken on 10 local people by contacting Worcester University and offering students a job opportunity.
