PERSHORE Carnival organisers have announced the theme for this year's event.

On Spring Bank Holiday – Monday May 27 – the popular carnival will again fill the town and this year the theme is Fairytales.

The first of the events in the build-up top this year's carnival is the Children’s Programme Design Competition, which takes place in Pershore Library from February 9-23.

A carnival spokesman said: "Classic or modern, from books, film or TV, the range of fairytales is endless.

"Enter your ideas for the cover of the carnival programme and the winner will see their own artwork in print distributed throughout the town.  More information available in the library.

"We are also still looking for entrants to the procession.  Entrants can be groups or individuals, either on foot or motorised.

"Use your imagination to portray our Fairytales theme."

The spokesman continued: "As usual there will be a collection during the parade and we would love to hear from local organisations who feel they should benefit from the town’s generosity.
