TODAY is the last day to vote to help Kidderminster and District Youth Trust (KDYT) secure nearly £50,000 to run community activities, including cheerleading, dancing and drama sessions, for local youngsters.

KDYT's Wyred & Creative group, which works with young people in the community, is one of five groups in the region who are in the running for a share of the £3m National Lottery People's Project fund.

If the trust is successful, it plans to use the £48,698 grant for community activities such as cheerleading, dancing, drama sessions and an inclusive arts festival.

A total of 95 community-based schemes are shortlisted in the UK and, from each region, the three that receive the most public votes will each receive a grant of up to £50,000.

KDYT is asking people to support its bid by visiting the People’s Project website to vote at thepeoplesprojects.org.uk.

Ben Bennett, operations manager at KDYT, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to raise awareness and support for our work and, with your help, to secure further much-needed funding.

"We urge local people to get behind us. If successful, this will help us to make an even bigger difference to our local community by providing fantastic facilities for young people and the wider community.”

Voting closes at midday today (Monday, April 15).
