A SCHOOL has received several nominations in this year’s Worcestershire Education Awards.

Meadows First School in Bromsgrove has received nominations for Teacher of the Year, Head Teacher of the Year and support staff of the year, as well as receiving an 'Outstanding' Ofsted report on Friday morning.

Sue Hewitt, headteacher at the school, was nominated with the nomination saying: “Sue is the most amazing Headteacher.

“She is a strong leader who is dedicated, forward thinking and driven to be the best she can and ensures that her staff and pupils are the best that they can be too.

“She knows the pupils well and meets regularly with staff to ensure that early help and support is offered when needed, ensuring all pupils meet their personal potential.

“Many people have told me they wish they had sent their children to Meadows.”

Rachel Datson, leader of the school’s Autism base, was nominated for teacher of the year and was described as: “Practical and upbeat about finding solutions to meet the needs of her pupils.”

The final nominations were for Kate Archer and Jodie Rose, who were both nominated for Support Staff of the Year.

The joint nomination the pair received said: “Jodie & Kate work very closely together to support our most vulnerable pupils at Meadows First School.

“They work tirelessly and with such patience and skill to ensure that the pupils they support are able to access their learning. Their talent for adapting the learning and their calm, supportive approach has been commended by our Educational Psychologist."
