ELDERLY residents and staff at a Stourport care home are celebrating after inspectors awarded the facility another 'good' rating.

Ravenhurst Residential Care Home in Lickhill Road North was rated 'good' overall following an unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission in March.

Inspectors judged the home to be 'outstanding' in the responsive category and were impressed by the community atmosphere within the home, with residents hosting their own activities and providing outreach support in the local area.

Staff were described as "kind and caring" and residents were found to live very active lives.

One resident told inspectors: “I am happy. My son said I look happier and in better health than I have for years.”

A follow-up report said residents were "supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives" and were treated with dignity and respect.

The report said the home had worked hard to establish a ‘Dignity when Dying’ programme for residents in need of end of life support. The scheme was set up alongside residents, their relatives and other health professionals to provide physical and emotional support.

Care records were "detailed and individual" and staff received regular refresher training.

Home manager Andrew Green said: “I am delighted that the CQC have awarded a good rating to Ravenhurst Residential Care Home.

“Our staff take great pride in providing the highest levels of care to residents and ensuring they are able to live happy and comfortable lives.”

Ravenhurst Residential Care Home, managed by Sacntuary Care, is home to 48 people.
