ONE of Malvern’s most historic gardens will be opening its gates to the public for the last time.
The garden at Barnards Green House will be open on Sunday, June 23, from 3pm to 5pm, and owner Sue Nicholls says that this will be the last time she will be holding such an event.
She said: “I will still be opening by appointment to groups of visitors, but I won’t be having the open days like this again.
“I have been hosting these events for over 40 years now and I’m getting too old.”
As well as the chance to see around the gardens, the event will also give visitors a chance to say farewell to the vicar of the town’s Holy Trinity Church, Rev David Nichol, who is leaving the town to take up a new post.
Mrs Nicholls said: “I think a lot of people will want to wish David all the best for the future and to say goodbye to him.”
The garden features in the National Gardens Scheme and is described as a plantsman’s paradise, with a magnificent cedar tree.
