KEMP Hospice is encouraging people in Wyre Forest to dress up as their favourite superhero for a day to raise money to support local people in need.

The charity has launched KEMPhero Day on Friday, July 5 to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year, and is urging local schools, businesses and community groups to take part.

KEMP community fundraiser Coralie Hudson said: "The idea behind KEMPhero Day is simple. We want workplaces, schools and clubs across the county to dress up as their favourite hero or superhero and raise money to help people in our community.

"We want to see masks and capes, we want to see lycra and spandex, we want to see you wear it and own it because when it comes to helping care and support people in our community we all need to be a little more heroic.”

KEMPhero Day will also be supporting other local schools and projects.

Coralie added: "We would like local schools to encourage children to dress up on the day and pay £2, with half of the money going back into the school and the rest coming to help KEMP Hospice with our services that include a children’s bereavement service.

"Workplaces and community groups could host hero quizzes or even a superhero cake sale or coffee morning – anything they can do to support KEMP would be fantastic.

"More people than ever before need the free-of-charge services of KEMP, and there are so many families across the Wyre Forest district that need heroes like the nurses and counsellors at KEMP to help them in their hardest times.

"I hope everyone will dress up on Friday, July 5 and support KEMPhero Day, and use their fundraising superpowers to help those in need.”
