THE hottest Saturday of the summer yet proved an excellent backdrop to Armed Forces Day 2019, held at Malvern Link’s Victoria Park.

The sunshine meant an excellent turn-out, as members of the public came to to show their support for the men and woman who make up the armed forces community and provide a much-valued morale boost for the troops and their families.

The event, organised by Malvern Town Council, included military and historical displays and exhibitions, and a parade and service.

There was also plenty of games and entertainment, with the emphasis being on fun for all ages.

Music was provided by the Malvern Hills District Brass Band and vintage singing trio, Ruby Woo, and there was also a Lindhop dance display.

A re-enactment of a First World War first aid surgeon’s station proved fascinating to visitors, while marquees and gazebos featured exhibitions and displays, with military vehicles and equipment on site.

The younger visitors also enjoyed vintage rides, inflatable assault courses, dressing-up boxes, face-painting and many other activities.

Lyndsey Davies of the town council said: “We had a very good day in Victoria Park, with an excellent turnout.”
