WORK is to start next week to upgrade water pipes in Bromsgrove.
Severn Trent engineers will begin replacing ageing water pipes with brand new ones in Valley Road, near Bournheath, from Monday, July 29 until Friday, August 2.
To carry out the work, a temporary road closure will be put in place along a section of Valley Road, from the junction at Bumble Hole Lane towards Bromsgrove Road for the five day period, in order to keep the workmen, pedestrians and road users safe.
Catherine Webb from Severn Trent, said: “As water pipes get old, they can become weaker and crack, making them prone to leaks and bursts. We want to make sure our customers’ water supply in the area is always there when they need it, which is why we’re laying new water pipes on Valley Road.
“While we’re in the area, we’re going to be putting in additional infrastructure along the road, so in the future, if we want to make any improvements to our network, it’ll be much easier to do so.
“This work is really important, to make sure that water supplies for our customers are reliable going forward. We’re doing all we can to help minimise disruption and keep everyone affected up-to-date with progress.”
The work is part of a £10 million investment programme across Worcestershire, to replace 60 miles of new water pipes over a 12 month period.
