STAFF and pupils at schools in Evesham and the Cotswolds have been celebrating some fantastic A-level results.

And some schools announced some record breaking results, despite nationally A-level entries awarded an A grade or higher falling to the lowest for more than a decade.

Kingham Hill's Sixth Form was one of the success stories as, for the fourth year in a row, it celebrated record breaking exam success. The Chipping Norton school's pass rate at A* to C, was an impressive 90 per cent, with 45 per cent of grades overall being A* to A.

Headmaster Nick Seward said: "I am delighted that our pupils and their teachers have secured record breaking results yet again."

The school's head of sixth form, Helena Berkeley, added: "I am so proud of all sixth formers as they head out into the world - from UCL to Loughborough, Edinburgh to Amsterdam and Exeter to Syracuse."

Meanwhile Pershore High students have been celebrating their results, as 79 per cent of results were A* to C, and 25 per cent either A* or A.

Among the top performers was Lucy Barker, who secured three A* grades, and its now heading to Lancaster University to study biology.

Headteacher, Phil Hanson, congratulated all students on their "incredible dedication and commitment" that he said had enabled them to achieve such excellent results.

Students at Chipping Campden School's Sixth Form also celebrated after receiving their A-level results. Close to 75 per cent of pupils achieved A* to C grades, and overall around 20 per cent were either A* or A.

Among the school's star pupils was Charles Thomas who achieved the coveted A* grade in maths, further maths and physics.

John Sanderson, the school’s principal, said: “I am extremely proud of all that our students have achieved again this year.

"So many have worked extremely hard and clearly thrived in such a stimulating and vibrant environment. I’m pleased that so many now have the qualifications and skills they need to go on to the next stage of their learning."

Bredon School in Tewkesbury is another celebrating its A-level results. It reports that 82 per cent of pupils have achieved grades A* to C, with nearly half gaining an A* to B grade.

Koen Claeys, headteacher at Bredon School, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this year’s results.

"Our upper sixth students have performed to their personal best and have achieved individual outcomes to be proud of in their A-level and BTEC examinations."

Among the star performers at the school were Sam Thomas, who achieved A in maths and a distinction in applied science.

The Cotswold School has announced its sixth form examination results were "outstanding" as 85 per cent of student's grades were A* to C, with 18 per cent of all grades being at A* and 41 per cent at A* or A.

Among the star pupils were Brooke Maskell, who gained three A* grades in biology, geography and maths, and Theo Hayward who gained three A* grades in geography, maths and physics.

Will Morgan, the school's principal, said: “I am delighted to see such excellent results from our year 13 students this year and I congratulate them all for their hard work and determination.

"This is the first cohort to sit the new, tougher A-levels across all subjects and our students have clearly risen to the challenge, fantastically well supported and well taught by the staff at The Cotswold School."

Prince Henry's Sixth Form is celebrating impressive A-level results, as the Evesham-based school reports 75 per cent of grades were A* to C.

The school says 170 students have completed their courses and the vast majority have gained places at their chosen universities.

Headteacher Dr Evans said: “Congratulations to all the students.

"My staff and I are delighted with the performances that we have seen this year reflecting the hard work of the students, their parents and the teachers here at Prince Henry’s who have supported them."

Guy Nichols, headteacher of The De Montford School in Evesham, said the school "couldn't be more pleased" with this year's set of results.

Mr Nichols said: "They have worked extremely hard to achieve some top grades and can be proud of their accomplishments.

"To see so many students achieve A and B grades in their A-levels and distinctions in their BTEC studies is wonderful."
