A MALVERN plastics firm celebrated being one of the winners of this year's Chamber of Commerce business awards.

Staff from Synthotec, which is a plastic injection moulding service based in Sandy's Road, decided to close down their factory and give their time to five local charities and organisations, helping with fund raising, volunteering and donating.

The company held an event for staff and family at Barnards Green Cricket Club on Friday, August 16 to celebrate winning the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Manufacturer of the Year Award for 2019.

The award is part of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Awards, which celebrate success and innovation by businesses from across the two counties.

Managing director Graham Ward said: "We wanted to celebrate with our staff to mark this wonderful achievement and consulted with several members of the team and we have arranged to hold a company event this Friday lunchtime at Barnards Green Cricket Club, for staff, and family.

"In addition to this we also received feedback that they wanted to mark our success by giving something back to the local community and to support some deserving and sometimes overlooked causes.

"So in addition to the company event, throughout this week we have closed down our factory and we have been out supporting local causes by either donating, fund raising and also volunteering for the following charities/organisations."

The organisations and charities chosen by Synthotec are:

l. Worcestershire Wildlife Trusts - Grafton Woods clearing woodland to promote habitats for rare butterflies

l. Malvern Hills foodbank - fund raising and donations

l. Worcester Angling Society – Riverbank clearing on the River Theme

l. Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter – Dog walking, kennel clearing etc

l. Malvern Gymnastics Club – Property and garden maintenance

The Chamber of Commerce Business Awards recognise excellence in business and are held annually/
