WORCESTER MP Robin Walker visited the site of a new housing development which provides affordable homes for the area.

Mr Walker visited the Sanctuary Homes site in Cranham Drive, Warndon, where the developer is building 34 houses.

The £4.3 million scheme, part funded by Homes England, is being built by Sanctuary’s in-house construction team and will include a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses as well as one and two-bedroom apartments

Mr Walker was given a tour of the site and met with Sanctuary representatives to find out more about the homes.

A care home was previously located on the site which was demolished four years ago, with residents being relocated to Sanctuary’s purpose-built care complex on Bromyard Road in St John’s.

Craig Moule, Sanctuary Group chief executive, said: “Providing quality affordable housing for people sits at the heart of Sanctuary’s social purpose and we are proud to be building this development in Worcester.

“It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Walker to Cranham Drive and show him how work is progressing to bring these new homes to fruition.”

Mr Walker said: “I have been a long-standing supporter of Sanctuary in my nine years as Worcester’s MP and it was great to see progress getting underway on new affordable housing in the city. It was also positive to see local people being employed to work on their site too.”

Sanctuary has provided £18,500 through its community investment fund, including a grant to the construction skills centre at Worcester Community Trust which was used to purchase equipment and cover course costs.

This has led to Sanctuary employing a site labourer who successfully completed training with WCT.
