HERE is a round-up of some of the planning applications sent to Herefordshire Council last week (August 12-18).

Tuston Farm House, Ashperton, Ledbury

Plans have been submitted to erect three polytunnels at a farm near Ashperton so a new, local business can grow and sell organic vegetables and fruit.

Applicant Alice Bowerman said the nine acre field is being rented on a farm business tenancy, and the polytunnels are needed to extend the cropping season, produce baby leaf salad and allow for propagation.

Two of the polytunnels would be 24 metres long, with the third 12 metres. They would have varying widths from 13.1 metres to 2.4 metres and be between 2.4 metres and 4 metres high.

The narrower tunnels would be erected using push-in ground anchors, but the wider tunnel would need to be concreted in.

The recycled tunnels, removed from a farm in Carey, would be in a field with a new hedge to the east and south, and the rest of the field would contain several new trees.
