A COUPLE who met during their teenage years have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

James and Pamela Bowcott got married on October 17, 1959 at Wellington church, the village where they have always lived.

One of the couple’s seven grandchildren, Laura Burgess, said the couple met at Wellington Youth Club when they were 14-years-old.

“My nan worked on the children’s ward in Hereford Hospital for 30 years,” she said.

“My grandad worked in the fields of Wyevale for his entire life, receiving a flight on Concorde as his retirement gift.

“He has always been a huge gardener and my nan is into Tennis. She used to go and camp at Wimbledon every year and get tickets for centre court.”

Mr and Mrs Bowcott have three children, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

“They have gone on holiday to Bournemouth every year, taking my mum and her two brothers as children, then us as children,” Ms Burgess added.

“We now take our children with them every year too.”
