A PROLIFIC thief has been sent to prison after a string of thefts in Worcester.

Robin Lunn, 56, of St Paul's Hostel, Tallow Hill, appeared before magistrates in Worcester on October 31 charged with two counts of theft and a third of committing an offence while a suspended sentence was in operation.

The court heard how Lunn stole two t-shirts worth £20.98 from Mountain Warehouse on October 9, this year, along with stealing electronics worth £18 from Oxfam.

Because of Lunn's previous record of offences, he was given 12 weeks consecutive to his existing suspended sentence of 24 weeks for six previous thefts.

Lunn previously stole £126 worth of electronics from Asda on July 1 this year, along with stealing electronic equipment from the same store on June 29 this year worth £49.

On July 13 this year, Lunn stole computer equipment from WH Smiths along with stealing medication and prescription drugs from Scales Pharmacy on July 1 and June 29 this year.

Lunn pleaded guilty to the charges, and the bench activated his suspended sentences, giving him a total of 36 weeks in prison.

He was also fined £122 as a victim surcharge.

Earlier this year, the Worcester News reported on how Lunn stole drugs from Scales, reaching behind the counter and taking the medication.

On August 16, his solicitor Mark Lister told the court about these offences: "He was interviewed and made full and frank admissions and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

"He was for a significant time, homeless, he is 56 and not in the best health.

"He is a resident at St Pauls Hostel, where he is getting help, support and accommodation."
