A MAN was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after an industrial accident in Hereford this afternoon (Monday).

Emergency services were called to a premises on Thorn Business Park, Rotherwas at 12.21pm where the man was freed by paramedics and fire crews.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to Thorn Business Park, Rotherwas to reports of a man who had been injured in an industrial incident.

"We sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a doctor on board.

"Paramedics with the fire service were able to free the man and he was given advanced trauma care.

"He has been airlifted to the major trauma centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham in a serious condition."

West Mercia Police said the victim of the industrial accident was a man in his early 20s.

A spokesperson added that while his injuries are serious, he is believed to be in a stable condition.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
