REDDITCH has got a new mayor - after the former mayor and councillor Roger Bennet was forced to stand down after making inappropriate posts on social media.
Longstanding Conservative councillor Michael Chalk has now taken on the role, and will do so until next May.
Roger Bennet was suspended by the Conservative Party last month after making inappropriate posts on social media.
A Conservative party spokesman at the time said: "Cllr Roger Bennett has been suspended as a member of the Conservative Party due to inappropriate posts on social media."
It is believed Mr Bennett will now sit an as independent councillor.
Cllr Chalk was elected mayor at Monday night’s Redditch full council meeting.
Councillor Gareth Prosser will remain as deputy mayor.
