RAIL passengers travelling through Kidderminster can see the town's new glass-fronted station taking shape.
The glass outer shell of the new £4.3m station has now been installed, offering passersby a preview of what the new £4.3m station will look like.
Worcestershire County Council says construction of the new railway station is "progressing", with an open date set to be announced soon.
Once completed, the new station will feature a zoned drop-off area, taxi rank and improved pedestrian route to the Severn Valley Railway.
The final stage of the development, which was originally due for completion this autumn, will see the station building fitted with a new indoor waiting area and toilets.
The outdoor area will then be landscaped while the footpaths and access road are surfaced.
Instead of pulling into the forecourt, buses will call at new bus shelters on Comberton Hill, one of which has already been installed.
A county council spokesman said: "The next phase of works includes completion of the forecourt improvements and the internal fit out of the station ahead of the entry into service stage.
"This is the stage where all parties involved work to ensure the new station building is fully ready to become operational and the new equipment and facilities are tested and commissioned.
"We will be in a position to share the planned opening date of the new station building soon and, in the meantime, the station will remain fully operational with no impact to services.”
