A TEAM of fitness fanatics based at Perdiswell Leisure Centre in Worcester have won a competition in London.

Centre members Lloyd Beecham and Bee Speechley and staff Barbie Webster and Sam Noble formed team Perdiswell Power to compete in the Les Mills GRIT Championships, and claimed first place by completing the high-intensity training circuit in the fastest time.

Their team one was one of four finalists to compete on Sunday, November 17 at Twickenham stadium.

After completing the relay with minutes to spare over the other teams, Perdiswell Power were announced as the champions and called up on stage to receive their prizes and the GRIT Champions trophy.

Lloyd said: “I am delighted to have been part of this year’s winning GRIT Championships team, where togetherness, teamwork and dedication were at the centre of an incredible success story.

"Everyone at Perdiswell Leisure Centre who was involved in supporting and inspiring the team to victory can be very proud of achieving this national title.”

Sam, a Freedom Leisure fitness supervisor, added: “Winning the GRIT Championships is such an unreal feeling and an amazing achievement. I want to thank all of our members and colleagues at Perdiswell Leisure Centre for all of their encouragement and support.”

Perdiswell is run by Freedom Leisure and area manager Lee Thomas said: “We are so proud of the team doing it for Perdiswell Leisure Centre and for Worcester. Their dedication was phenomenal."
