A DRIVER was airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in a crash near Ross-on-Wye this afternoon (Friday).

The serious collision happened on the A40 in Pontshill shortly after midday, with two women taken to hospital with injuries.

One driver suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital, a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

"One woman sustained serious injuries and was given trauma care on scene before being airlifted to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

"The second patient, an elderly woman, was taken by land ambulance to Hereford County Hospital with injuries not believed to be serious."

An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham with a doctor on board were sent to the scene, with West Mercia Police also in attendance.

They are appealing for information following the crash between a blue Honda HRV and a grey Mercedes A200.

Officers want to speak with anyone who saw the incident or has dash cam footage of the incident.
