THE traditional story of Aladdin will be given a local twist in a pantomime coming to Wolverley Memorial Hall this month.

Wolverley Village Players will again take to the stage in their latest production 'A Lad in Wolverley' from Wednesday, January 22 to Saturday, January 25.

The beautiful Princess Jasmine falls in love with the street boy Aladdin, who becomes a prince with the aid of the magic lamp and a powerful genie.

Evil uncle Abanazer and Aladdin's mother Widow Twankey will also feature in this adaptation of the classic tale.

Directed by Zoe Russell and written by scriptwriters from the Village Players, the production promises to delight audiences with its live band and professional sound and lighting.

Shows start at 7.30pm, with a Saturday family matinee at 2pm.

Tickets for 'A Lad in Wolverley' cost £7.50 and are available from Wolverley Costcutter, The Queen's or Gil's village store.

The Village Players formed in 2013 and this will be the group's 7th production.
