THE clear up of the city’s riverside began at the weekend as the council started clearing up the mess left behind from weeks of severe flooding.

Worcester City Council workers spent the weekend cleaning paths along the River Severn in Worcester with teams clearing up the stretch of South Quay and Kleve Walk from the bridge down to Worcester Cathedral.

In many places, including Bromwich Parade where the council will be using a tractor to clear up the mess, the mud left behind reached halfway up a pair of wellington boots.

The full clean up is expected to last at least two weeks.

The cleaning continued today (March 9) as workers cleared up the area around Diglis Avenue and the Diglis Hotel.

The council has also advised people not to walk on any of the riverside paths until they have been safely cleared.
