CONCERN has been expressed about the reduction in the bus timetable in Ludlow.

There are now just six buses a day in Ludlow at 8am, 9am, 10am, 1 pm, 2pm and 3pm with no buses in Steventon or up Old Street.

This is causing concern and inconvenience for people in Ludlow according to Vivienne Parry, a member of Ludlow Town Council and the Shropshire councillor for Ludlow South.

“Whilst people should be staying at home this is not possible all of the time for people who will need to go out to do shopping and for other essential journeys,” said Mrs Parry.

“Not everyone has access to a car and anyway people are being told not to go in cars unless they have to.”

The government has expressed concern at statistics that show an increase in the use of cars and police have been stopping cars and asking people where they are going?

Other public transport services including trains have been cut making it more difficult for people, especially in isolated towns like Ludlow, to get to medical appointments and for other vital services.
