A SPORT-LOVING pupil from Bromsgrove Preparatory School has run an incredible 30k to raise funds for the NSPCC to help other children in need during these uncertain times.

Eight-year-old Alfie Smith decided to have a go at the NSPCC challenge after his mother had seen the RUN30 event advertised.

“We’d talked about lockdown and how some children would find it hard”, said mum Rebecca Smith. “Alfie decided to do something to raise money to help them”.

Alfie ran 1km a day on the running machine, for 30 consecutive days.

“The first couple of weeks were okay,” said mum Rebecca, “but it got a bit more difficult as time went on.

"Alfie had raised money for the charity and didn’t want to let his sponsors down, so he carried on and finished strong, feeling really happy and proud of himself."

Alfie’s current total is more than £700. If you would like to donate, visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/alfie-smith6
