A PIZZERIA could be the latest addition to the city's Arches, new plans have revealed.

Method Coffee Company, which already runs a coffee bar in the city's arches, has put forward plans to take over another arch and open a new pizzeria and bakery.

The restaurant will be able to serve artisan pizza to 28 guests inside, according to the plans, with a further 14 seats made available outside the pizzeria during warmer weather.

The proposed opening times are 12pm to 7pm on weekends, 12pm to 9pm every Saturday and 10am until 6pm every Sunday.

The owners also hope to use the space to host pop-up events for new start-ups to show off their skills and will make the most of local and sustainable produce.

The multi-million-pound plan to revitalise the historic Victorian railway arches by creating a cultural quarter for the city was formally put forward at the start of the year.

Work has gathered pace this year with a ping-pong themed bar called Back and Forth already given permission to open in the city's Arches off Farrier Street and will also be joined by a new yet-to-be-named axe-throwing venue.

A decision on whether to allow another of the city's arches to be converted into a bespoke furniture shop is still to be made.

The council expects the £4.5 million renovation work for five of the railway arches to start later in the summer where they will be converted into studios and offices for local artists and creative businesses.

The work was made possible by a £3m government grant as well as money put forward by the Worcester Cultural Partnership.

Consultation on the plan ends on July 27. The application number is 20/00376/FUL. Comments can be made via the city council's website.
