A TOWN council building was lit up in honour of ambulance volunteers in Herefordshire.
Each year, members of St John Ambulance gather together on St John’s Day, June 24, to renew their commitment.
But with the coronavirus pandemic still with us, the usual gatherings were not possible this year.
While many virtual gatherings were held across the country, the council offices in Leominster were turned green - the St John Ambulance colour to acknowledge the day.
The photograph shows the mayor, councillor Clive Thomas, a former member of St John Ambulance and the deputy mayor, councillor John Rumsey and members of the Leominster St John units. Leominster has an operational unit providing first aid cover to events as well as youth sections for cadets aged 11 to 17 and badgers aged 7 to 10, where youngsters learn first aid, wider life skills and have fun.
The groups have been unable to meet in the last months, but have stayed in contact and are looking forward to meeting again in the autumn.

In the current pandemic St John Ambulance personnel have been providing support to NHS trusts, the ambulance service and the national blood transfusion service across the country, as well as supporting many individuals on a local basis.
