DROITWICH’S popular Lido is re-opening this weekend following a further easing of lockdown rules – but swimmers in Pershore will have to wait a while longer to get back in their local pool.
The Lido in Droitwich will re-open on Saturday, August 1 after the government gave pools the green light. The pool at Pershore leisure centre, however, will remain closed for “essential” maintenance work.

Friends of Droitwich Spa Lido have been busy supporting the re-opening over the weekend, with more than 50 plants bought to help spruce up the centre.
Chairman of FODSL, Suzi Wood said: “We are so excited that the Lido is opening, and the team wanted to help Wychavon Leisure. I must thank Debbie Holdsworth for sourcing the plants and kindly bringing them over for us to plant.”
Tim Kirkham, area manager for Wychavon Leisure, said: “We are really excited to be back on August 1, we didn’t think we’d be opening this year at all but the government has said pools can re-open again.
"Without the support of the friends of the lido we really would struggle. They are such a supportive group and are so passionate about the Lido.”

A spokesman for Wychavon Leisure, which operates the outdoor pool and leisure centres across Wychavon, said: “From August 1, Evesham and Droitwich Leisure centre pools will reopen and be on our booking only system.
"Pershore Leisure Centre’s pool will remain closed due to essential and substantial maintenance. We would like to remind Pershore members that they can use their membership at Evesham and Droitwich.”
Customers are asked to pre-book a swimming slot and arrive with their swimming costumes on and already showered. Changing rooms will be available on exit, but swimmers are urged to leave as quickly as possible after finishing their swim.
The Lido reopening has been supported by Wychavon District Council which has underwritten any losses from a short season.
