PARENTS have jumped to the defence of a troubled Worcester school.

We reported recently how inspectors had returned to Warndon Primary School and said the school had made inadequate progress after it was put into special measures last year.

The school in Edgeworth Close, Warndon, Worcester, was first rated inadequate in June last year when inspectors found standards had fallen and pupils’ results were well below average.

But on the Worcester News Facebook page (here), parents posted to say how much they liked the school.

Kelly Prentice, who has two children at the school, said: “I think this is totally rubbish. My sons attend the school and I have no worries about their education. It is a fantastic school with fantastic teachers who genuinely care about the students.”

Elaine Jacobs wrote: “This is a complete joke... The teachers are fantastic and actually care about their pupils.”

Tracie Ross said: “The teachers are amazing and my girls love going here.”

Online readers of the Worcester News also came out in support of the school.

lovingcows wrote: “My two children go to this school and are doing really well there. It does have its problems, but if the kids want to learn they will achieve there.

“Sadly there are some parents at the school who don't care so much about their children’s achievements who bring the rest of the school down, but they’re in the minority. Most parents want their children to succeed.”

hurricane hayes agreed, writing: “The teachers, teaching assistants, support and admin staff all work extremely hard to give the pupils the best education they can, and should be praised for the job they do rather than be put down.”

However, twink3l said that the governing body needed an overhaul.

Jill Georgiou, the school’s chairman of governors, said: “The school has maintained its strong relationships with the community and it is very encouraging to receive such positive comments from parents and to know we have their support in response the recent inspectors’ report.”
