Tividale again showed the resilience that has always been there but so far this season they have found a way to keep clean sheets and if you do that you cannot lose.

Wood were immediately on the front foot and pressed Tividale from the off and right winger Peter Till was the main instigator in those opening minutes giving Tividale's defence a torrid time but his final ball either could not find a red shirt or was over hit.

Wood's first real chance came after 15 minutes when the industrious Joey Butlin played in Tony Clarke but Clarke's poor first touch allowed Tividale's Freddie Watts to take the ball off him and move it out of danger.

Three minutes later and Andrew Westwood who played in Clarke but as previously Watts was able to gain from Clarke's first touch and he conceded a corner.

The first shot on target in the game surprisingly came from Tividale when Chris Bladen teed up Liam Wilkinson but his shot from 20 yards went straight into the midriff of Wood keeper Lloyd Ransome.

But Wood were immediately back on the attack but again they were either closed down by a defiant Tividale defence or were wasteful with their final ball and apart from punching clear a Jordan Fitzpatrick corner Tividale keeper Ryan Cheshire was not really troubled in the half, while at the other end on the stroke of half time Darragh Bustin's cross come shot was beaten away by Ramone.

Half Time:- Walsall Wood 0 - 0 Tividale

The start of the second half was as the first with Wood dominating the possession and probing at the Tividale defence and from a quick Gavin Hurren free kick Till teed up Butlin but his effort lacked any power and Cheshire saved comfortably.

Clarke then headed well over from a Till corner. Bustin then started a Tividale counter and his ball down the left touchline released Tyree Street but his cross into Bladen took a bobble just as he went to strike it and the bounce deceived him.

Butlin then had another effort that flashed past Cheshire's post as Wood pressed for that illusive goal.

But Tividale were still a threat on the counter and when Clarke sent Wilkinson away his low cross was put out for a corner by right back Dale Taylor just in front of Bustin.

Till then tested Cheshire with a drive from the edge of the box that the Tividale keeper could only beat away and Bustin fired the loose ball high and wide.

Substitute Lewis Taylor Boyce saw his shot saved by Cheshire at his near post after he made a decisive run down the right flank.

Straight from that chance substitute Smith used his pace to test a tiring Wood defence but Clarke just failed to meet his cross. Wood then made a change possibly due to Smith's pace replacing Dale Taylor with Craig Deakin.

As Tividale have found out over the last couple of years and anyone who knows anything about football will tell you. If you miss your chances, especially in the quantity Wood have you may get punished.

On 79 minutes with Wood's right flank exposed, Bustin chipped the ball to Curtis Cocking and his cross was volleyed home by an unmarked Smith at the back post.

It would now be a test of Tividale's nerve as they were now expecting a full on onslaught from the home side as they sought the goal to earn a replay, the minimum they deserved.

From the restart a Taylor Boyce cross was turned away for a corner by Karl Gardner, just beating Clarke to the ball.

From the resulting corner Darren Campion saw his header come back off the cross bar with Cheshire beaten, Hurren was the first to the rebound but his header went straight into the hands of the grateful keeper.

Amongst the chances in those final 10 minutes were a Clarke shot that beat Cheshire but lacked place and was hacked clear and a Louis Harris effort that Cheshire turned around the post but Tividale held out and it is they who are in Monday's First qualifying draw
