OLD Hill have brought in former Warwickshire ace Naqaash Tahir as they look to hit back following last season's relegation from Birmingham and District League Division Two.

The 34-year-old seam bowler enjoyed a 10-year professional career predominantly with his home county, where he played 56 first class matches taking 139 wickets with best bowling figures of 7/71.

Since finishing his first class career he has played Birmingham League cricket for Smethwick and latterly Moseley, where last year he took 55 wickets to help them gain promotion to the Premier League.

The Haden Hill outfit have also bolstered their ranks with the arrival of Shafiq Ahmed from Penkridge.

The off-spinning all-rounder has many years of experience in the Birmingham League. His former clubs include Wolverhampton, West Bromwich Dartmouth and Himley.

Skipper Jonathan Wright said: "We will be adding another couple of signings to the first team squad before the season starts. We hope these new signings, added into an already talented squad, will enable us to realise our ambition of climbing the league structure to get us back where we feel we belong, the Premier League.

"Our main club sponsor is Homeserve Furniture Repairs and we are hugely grateful to James the owner for his very generous sponsorship and to all of our other sponsors who donate to the club.

"We are also looking forward to an exciting year both on and off the pitch with a bar and clubhouse refurbishment planned prior to the season."
