DUDLEY Town have chosen to end their 11-year association with the Dell Stadium after finding a new home.

The Robins will now be based at the York Road Ground in Oldbury for the 2018/19 campaign.

The club suffered major disruption last season after badgers dug up the pitch at the Brierly Hill venue.

That issue has finally led to club officials to call time on their spell at the stadium that has been their home since 2007.

Club secretary Dave Farrier said: "The issue with the badgers caused us major problems last season. We were reversing fixtures and playing at other grounds and we just couldn't go through that again.

"The council's hands were tied to some extent with the cost and what they could actually do to stop it but we felt like it was time for us to move on.

"We have been looking to move for a while and last season was the final straw.

"Our fans will be able to have a beer and a pie at the new ground and will be much closer to the pitch. We want to attract more people and improving the experience at games will help with that.

"When the opportunity came up to move to Oldbury it was something we couldn't refuse.

"The 12-month lease means we can see how it goes and assess it again next year. We still eventually want to move back into Dudley but that's something we've been trying to do for more than 15 years without any joy.

"Whether or not this is for the short or long term, we feel it's a really good move for the club.

"The feed back we've had has been good and we are keen to build on a good end to last season."

Manager Dean Whitehouse kept the Robins in the West Midlands Premier League last season after a hard-fought battle against relegation.

The club's first game at their new ground will be a friendly against Halesowen Town on Saturday, July 7 (3pm kick-off).
