GREG Wright thinks Himley's narrow win over Brockhampton could change their outlook for the final months of the season.

Himley edged away from the Division One dropzone with an eight-run success last Saturday. They are now 40 points ahead of second-from-bottom side Brockhampton.

They only managed to make 121 on a good Stourbridge Road surface after being put into bat by their visitors.

Opener Bilaal Hussain and number nine Stuart Wedge both top scored with just 22.

However, Chris Boroughs again proved vital as he bagged five wickets to help his side pick up a much-needed points haul.

Wright said: "It was a much better pitch than the 120 we got but it was good to get the win, especially after last week when, as a team, their were a lot of questions asked.

"We bowled beautifully and fielded superbly. They are struggling at the moment and we knew their batting was frail and the opportunity was there for us if we could bowl anything like what we're capable of.

"It's a win that changes the outlook really. We're now a decent amount of points above them and the hope is still there that we can be involved near the top comet the end of the season.

"It's a distant hope because we've not been performing well enough to realistically feature but the ability is all there.

"We've got two tough away games now and if we could get something out of them then who knows what could happen.

"Last season we managed to dig ourselves out when we were under the cosh but we've not done that consistently enough this year.

"We did that on Saturday after we'd got ourselves in a mess and hopefully we can build on that." On Boroughs' fine bowling performance, he added: "That's why you have guys like that around. He's been there and done it and there is no question that he is still doing a great job for us now. Players like that are like gold dust."

Himley will look to build on the win when they go to Barnards Green this Saturday. That will be followed by a trip to Bromsgrove a week later.
