NETHERTON CC are still in the hunt for the Worcestershire League Division Three promotion places despite their match against Martley being abandoned.

After last weekend's winning draw against fellow high-flyers Harborne, Netherton were third in the division, and holding off Rushwick by just a point.

But the Malvern side were able to get their game at home to league-leaders Lye going on Saturday – falling to a losing draw.

Malvern's 10 points were enough to see Netherton – who only picked up five points for their abandoned match – fall behind Rushwick, but ahead of Harborne after their away loss at Avoncroft.

Following the weekend's fixtures, Netherton remain in third place in the table ahead of Harborne by three points, but they are now four points behind Rushwick in second.

The Highbridge Road side need to win and hope results go their way to make it into the promotion spots when they face a final day trip to Hanley Castle & Upton on Saturday (12.30pm start).
